Model's Own

So i bought these brushes few months back from Asos and the picture shown at Asos was of course huge but when i received it, i would say these brushes are more for travelling purposes rather than everyday uses unless you prefer to use short handled brushes.

Personally, i prefer long handled brushes; they are easier to hold on to and somehow satisfy me in a certain way that short handles brushes could not. The whole set retails for SGD$21.95. Extremely affordable, especially if you are thinking of getting a starter kit or even a gift for someone who is starting their makeup collection etc. The bristles are synthetic; which makes it easier to work with liquid rather than powders. One of the brushes that came with it is the the powder brush, on the day that i wanted to do a review of these brushes i felt that the powder brush is too short and small to be use for all over face powder (i have always been using MAC 150 for powders; which is long handled, dense bristle and large). Thus i used it for my liquid foundation instead! I used it with Revlon foundation which was pretty thick and had good coverage. So on my left side of my face applied foundation using Models Own powder brush while the right was using MAC 175 stippling brush (i love this! and been using it for EVER!)

The result was: BOTH side was the same! Of course in the first place the the powder brush had the same effect given if you were to use any typical foundation brush (the flat kinds). So there were streaks at first but i smoothed it by blending more using the brush and the end result was the same as stippling brush!

However, with the stippling brush it takes lesser time as i did not need to do much blending and it is bigger than the powder brush so i could get to more places at one go thus saving more time!
But, the advantage of the powder brush being small is that, it could get into small areas like under my eye easily as compared to MAC 175!

Overall: The price is good, the purpose is not there, for me i do not feel comfortable using the powder brush for powder but i rather using for my cream blushers and liquid foundations. If you are looking for something affordable yet useful this brush would be good for foundation! I honestly prefer this brush to the typical foundation brush that i have!

So will i put away my MAC 175 for this brush? No! Of course not! My MAC 175 is worth so much more than this and it blends more that this brush and give me an almost air-brushed finish! But if you do not have enough to get MAC 175 maybe you could try this for starters!

As for the shading brush (which was what i was looking forward to cause mine was stolen :( ), it is way too small for me to actually use it to blend my eye shadows and i was so disappointed and there was little that i could do in limited time cause it is too small but i will give it a second try!

The other brushes are they typicals! Nothing much to rave about or so on so this is pretty much it!

Oh ya another thing: I would definitely go for this brushes rather than ELF brushes unless it is their professional line brushes!

Good Luck!
